For me, the Nars is almost like a full coverage “skin tint”. The Nars doesn’t fill in pores and lines as well. But it won’t dethrone the Estee as my favorite foundation, instead it comes in at a respectable 2 nd place! Why? The thicker Estee formula really helps to fill in pores and lines. For me, 1 to 1.5 pumps is enough to give me that semi-matte, healthy skin look I’m after. Of course when I go 2 pumps full coverage, it can start to look obvious. And this really does look natural on skin it’s the most natural looking foundation I have. When comparing swatches to the rest of my foundations, it’s interesting to see how yellow the Nars is. But I love it it’s flattering on my skin and is personally the closest match to my actual skin tone (although it’s a little too warm for my winter skin right now). My flat brush usually works with everything but not this foundation. But it looks pretty and poreless if I don’t over buff! It just takes some finessing to get a flawless finish that other methods can’t achieve. The more I buff and swirl the foundation in, the more it starts to sit and pool into pores. Just not as seamless as fingers, sponge, or a stipple brush. But by no means does this look “cakey-cakey”. Interestingly, I find dense brushes can make this look cakey vs the other methods. This technique is fast too I can literally complete my foundation in a minute! And it looks blended, seamless, and natural. I can effortlessly achieve light or medium coverage. For some reason, the watery foundation spreads and blends the best with a dual fiber stipple brush. This is my absolute favorite way to apply the foundation. It takes me 2 whole pumps just for light coverage! Although this method gives a super pretty dewy finish. But the foundation is so liquid that A LOT of product gets absorbed. This also works well with a beauty sponge, like Real Techniques. It applies best by dabbing and blending in sections because this dries so quickly! But the warmth of my fingers really helps to melt the foundation into my skin, so streakiness is not a problem. This surprisingly doesn’t have a lot of “slip” on my skin. You would think because it’s so watery, the foundation would be easy to spread all over – WRONG. I enjoy applying this with fingers because it gives the most light coverage & natural finish. It just looks very skin like for a full coverage foundation. And it dries down to a beautiful semi-matte finish not powdery but not dewy. It’s true! 1 pump gives me light to almost medium coverage.
